Durable Medical Equipment (DME) Authorizations Change on Jan. 1, 2024

Starting January 1, 2024, Coastal Care, Inc., will manage Durable Medical Equipment (DME) authorizations, credentialing and claims in Regions 1-7.
Coastal Care currently manages Regions 8-11.

When this change takes effect, providers should submit all DME authorization requests and claims for Wellcare members to Coastal Care instead of the health plan.

There will be no changes to the current Home Health authorizations process.

Providers who are not participating in Coastal Care’s network should call 1-855-481-0505 or email Provider Relations to request to participate. Providers who decide not to join Coastal Care’s network should continue to provide services to members throughout the Continuity of Care (COC) period of 90 days.

All members have a Continuity of Care (COC) period of 90 days. During that time, Wellcare can help transition members receiving care through a non-participating provider to a participating provider. Please review the Provider Manual to help members successfully transition to Coastal Care without experiencing any interruptions in their care.
